Summary:
These samples were taken from a 24 year old field of Rocky Mountain Remont Sainfoin which has never been fertilized or replanted.  It appears the feed value holds extremely high throughout the growing season other than protein which is offset with yield increase.  The other positive, is because of the high sugar content and hollow stems, the palatability remains high even though the stem to leaf ratio increases with yield.  The main advantage here is wide flexibility of harvest time weather you hay or graze Rocky Mountain Remont Sainfoin compared to alfalfa or grasses and grains.
